A birthday at Loggerheads

This year is possibly the 4th (or even 5th) year in a row that my birthday wish has been to be in Wales at the caravan. It never happens, Fibro body usually can’t manage it. Whether a rotting gallbladder or dental woes, something usually happens to keep me away. So my birthday is just like most other days – spent housebound.
This year I was crazy enough to ’make plans’. I decided the week before that since the miracle had occurred and I was going to finally be in Wales for my birthday, that I would attempt to get to Loggerheads.

There’s something magical as well as restful and rejuvenating about the sound of water streaming over rocks…especially when they’re surrounded by trees in an area of ’outstanding natural beauty’ in a country park.

I didn’t think it was going to happen because my, ahem, digestive system was acting up plus I’d run out of royal jelly. I drove into town and went to the health shop then decided to drive to Loggerheads and see if I could park near enough to make the short walk possible. (Fortunately there are lots of places to sit and rest.) I managed to park, then discovered that the cafe does all day breakfasts…

English BreakfastSo I had a breakfast and a coffee and a rest then ambled, with regular pauses for rest, to the stream.

In a brief burst of naive enthusiasm/hope I had packed a mini (or rather nano) portable studio into my small handbag.
• My travel watercolour set,
• My watercolour moleskine and
• a water pen.
Guess what? I sat and sketched with watercolours…it was heaven.

I also recorded a couple of videos and, of course, took photos with my phone.

  2. Hi, San! I’m glad you got to go somewhere beautiful for your birthday. The pictures and video show that it was a great place to sketch. Nice tree πŸ™‚ Happy Belated Birthday! xo

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ I’m lucky that its only 10mins drive from the caravan and is fairly disability friendly too (hand rails and seats and flat walking surface.) glad my pics etc give a glimpse of the beauty there.
